Kindergarden Registration

Here is Korban.. Just minutes ago. I kept asking him to remove the Wii remote from his face, and he continued to push it further into his eye.. What am I gonna do with this kid?? Today I was lucky enough to register my sweet baby Korban for Kindergarten. I say lucky enough because I have been sick and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to. But I was. Yeah...

He was so excited to go to school. As soon as we got in, we went into the multi-purpose room so I could fill out all of the endless paper work and he ran around with all of the other pre-kindergartners. He was having so much fun running and playing, then it abruptly stopped and he came and sat with me. This isn't usual for Korban when other kids are around who are being crazy rambunctious. I asked him if everything was okay and he said "NO". I then ask all of the endless questions to see if I can pry it out of him and he won't budge.

On a side note, my daughters never did that. If you asked them what was wrong, the would tell you. that is the difference between girls and boys i think. girls will talk and tell you what is up. boys are cryptic and will tell you when they are ready. i hate that. Just tell me what is on your mind and I will see what I can do to help you. ARGH..

Once we were outside and walking to the car, Korban said to me "Mom, I'm not going to school for learning, I am going to play on the playground". That's just great. In reality, I knew that. He is a boy, and he is my boy. I have really been contemplating on even sending him to school this next year, because he turns 5 in July. I think that might be a bit early, but everyone I talk to says' just send him. He will be fine. Even my mother-in law says DO IT.. And she would know, she teaches school. Maybe it is because he is my baby boy, and he isn't even a baby.. He is so sensitive and I worry.. Maybe this is my lesson in life. I can't control everything, so I just need to get over it..

Good luck with the school thing. I have no advice on that one. I can't even imagine the day that I have to register Keelia for school. Scary!!

  8. Might as well add my one cent worth to the "do I send a boy with a summer birthday to school at age five?" struggle. As a second grade teacher who is struggling with four boys who are so immmature in second grade that everyday is difficult--don't send him. He will be so much better off having another year to mature at home and school will be so much easier for him. There it is. I love reading about your precious family. Glad you are okay. I love you.
